Choosing a wooden desk
What the tops are made of
Most desks here have a 25mm board top in a wood finish, with a heat and stain resistant surface and protective edge banding, on a steel frame. That keeps the price down and the surface easy to wipe clean. Check the product page for the top and frame details of each desk. The One and Start desk ranges are FSC certified.
Which wood finish
Oak is the warm, mid-tone choice. Beech is lighter and a little more yellow. Grey oak suits offices with grey or white walls and black or silver chairs. The Rhodes home desk comes in a walnut effect, and the Actiu desks add finishes such as chestnut and light oak. Finish names vary between makers, so compare the swatch photos on each product page.
Shape and size
Straight desks run from compact 800mm tops to 1800mm and wider; corner and crescent desks give you a second working area for paperwork. If you share a desk between sitting and standing, the sit-stand desks here come in the same wood finishes. Matching cupboards, bookcases and pedestals are sold in the same colours, so a whole room can match.

Delivery, returns and VAT
Anything marked Next Day Delivery arrives the next working day when you order before the cut-off shown on the product page, stock and courier permitting. Standard delivery costs nothing to most of the UK. Orders to the Scottish Highlands and islands, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Isle of Wight, the Scilly Isles, the Channel Islands and a short list of other postcodes carry a charge: call our friendly team first and we will confirm it.
Larger items travel on a pallet with a tail lift and are delivered to the kerbside, on a level, hard surface. If you want them carried in, choose room of choice delivery, or delivery and installation, at checkout where it is offered: a two-person team brings them to the room, and with installation they also build them and take the packaging away.
Changed your mind? Our returns policy gives you 30 days from delivery to send back anything unused, unassembled and in its original packaging. We collect it, and the collection charge is taken from your refund; business customers pay a 15% restocking fee as well.
Made-to-order items work differently: you can cancel within 24 hours of ordering, and after that we can only take them back if they are faulty or not as described.

Prices include VAT, with the price excluding VAT shown as well for businesses that reclaim it.
